| His Healing Atonement was Enough |
| by Cher Wandell |
| There was a time when those who Believed in God could receive forgiveness of sins and be healed by the sacrificing of an animal. The blood of the animal was a symbol of a covering for blemished souls. |
| In the book of Exodus chapter 12, God required that a spotless lamb be killed and the blood was to be smeared over the lintel (crosspiece at the top of the door) and two doorposts of every Israelite`s home. The visible sign of blood covered them and prevented them from getting destroyed because of disobedience to God that was prevalent in that land. |
| The covering of the doorposts was a foreshadowing of what Jesus would do on the cross for us. The blood of the lamb was a temporary covering that needed to be done continually, but praise God, the visible blood of Jesus became our permanent covering and atonement for sin. His sacrifice gave a covering that couldn`t be washed away. |
| The atonement that came through Jesus covered everything that sin had brought into this Earth. The Bible says that the love of God is what now covers the multitude of sins, forever. God loves us so much that His love covered sickness and disease, which is the result of sin in the life of every person. |
| The Word of God was fulfilled through Jesus in Matthew 8:16-17, testifying that Jesus Himself took on all our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. Because Jesus took them away, we no longer have to bear them. |
| Let me make it clear as to what Jesus really did for us. When an individual has taken something from you, it is no longer yours. You no longer have possession of it, so you no longer have the “care” or responsibility of it. Your care of the matter is now in the past, because someone “took” the care from you. The curse of sickness was removed when Jesus died for us. There is no more continual sacrifice to be made, because the ultimate sacrifice was already given at Calvary. Jesus took the “care” of all curses onto Himself and destroyed the effects of what they brought. Healing has been taken care of; your healing has been fulfilled and is complete right now. |
| “When evening had come, they brought to Jesus many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a Word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet saying: |
| He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.” (Matthew 8:16-17) |
| Just as we no longer have to live a sin-filled life because we have been forgiven of our sins, we also can be healed and no longer have to live with sickness. The sick life is gone…it has been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and His atonement was enough! |
